Three tips for knowing when your child may have a language delay:

1. They have a limited vocabulary

2. They use short sentences of one, two or three word combinations. Older children may use sentences that are missing words.

3. They may have difficulty telling stories about things that happened to them, for example, if you ask how their day was at school.
